Acceptable Use Policy
We believe in treating our users like adults. Here's the deal: use PhonicsMaker for education, be kind, and help us keep this community wonderful for everyone.
The Golden Rule
Use PhonicsMaker to help children learn to read.
Everything else flows from that.
Four Simple Principles
Use It for Learning
PhonicsMaker is built for education. Generate books, worksheets, and activities that help children learn to read. That's what we're here for β and we love seeing the creative ways you use our tools.
- Creating custom phonics readers for your students
- Generating worksheets that target specific learning goals
- Building activity packs for tutoring sessions or homework
- Making personalised books for children who need extra support
Be a Good Human
Our platform creates content for children. Everything you generate should be appropriate, respectful, and kind. We trust our community β and almost everyone gets this right without even thinking about it.
- Keep all generated content child-appropriate
- Don't use our tools to create anything hateful, discriminatory, or harmful
- Respect other people's intellectual property
- Be honest in your interactions with our team
Protect Your Account
Your account is personal to you. Please don't share your login credentials or let others use your subscription. If you're a school, we have team plans designed for exactly that.
- Keep your password secure and don't share login details
- One account per person (schools: check out our team plans!)
- Let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorised access
- Don't try to access other people's accounts or data
Don't Break Things
We've poured our hearts into building this platform. Please don't try to reverse-engineer, overload, or misuse the technology behind it. If you find a bug, we'd genuinely love to hear about it.
- Don't attempt to reverse-engineer or scrape our AI systems
- Avoid automated scripts or bots that overload our servers
- Don't try to bypass subscription limits or security measures
- Report bugs or vulnerabilities to support@phonicsmaker.com
The "Please Don't" List
We trust you. But for the record, here's what's off limits.
Generating content that is violent, sexual, or inappropriate for children
Reselling or commercially redistributing AI-generated content as your own product
Using automated tools to mass-generate content beyond normal educational use
Attempting to extract, copy, or replicate our underlying AI models or algorithms
Sharing your account credentials or circumventing subscription limits
Impersonating PhonicsMaker staff or misrepresenting your affiliation with us
What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?
We're not looking to catch anyone out. If there's a minor issue, we'll reach out and give you a chance to make it right. A friendly email, a conversation β that's our first move. Always.
For serious or repeated violations β things like generating harmful content, or systematically abusing the platform β we may need to suspend or terminate your account. But honestly? In all our time running PhonicsMaker, we've almost never had to do this. Our community is genuinely wonderful.
If your account is ever suspended and you believe it was a mistake, email support@phonicsmaker.com and we'll review it personally.
A Note About Your Content
The books, worksheets, and activities you create with PhonicsMaker are yours to usefor educational purposes. Print them, share them with students, use them in your classroom, give them to parents β that's exactly what they're for.
We do ask that you don't take raw AI-generated output and repackage it as your own software product or competing service. Using our materials in your teaching, tutoring, or school programs? Absolutely fine. Building a competing AI book generator from our output? Not so much.
Common Questions
Can I use the books and worksheets I create commercially?
Absolutely β if you're a teacher selling resources on TpT, a tutor providing materials to clients, or a school distributing to students, that's completely fine. What you can't do is resell raw AI-generated output as a standalone digital product (e.g. packaging and reselling our generated books as your own app or product line).
What happens if I accidentally violate this policy?
We're reasonable people. If something was clearly an honest mistake, we'll reach out, explain the issue, and give you a chance to fix it. We reserve the right to suspend accounts for serious or repeated violations, but we always try to talk first.
Can I share resources I create with other teachers?
Yes! Sharing individual books, worksheets, and activity packs with colleagues is wonderful β that's the spirit of education. Just don't share your account login. If your whole school wants access, our team plans make that affordable and easy.
What counts as "overloading" the platform?
Normal use β even heavy normal use β is totally fine. We're talking about things like writing scripts to auto-generate thousands of books, or systematically hammering our API. If you're using PhonicsMaker the way a human does, you're good.
I found a bug. What should I do?
Tell us! We genuinely appreciate it. Email support@phonicsmaker.com and we'll look into it right away. If it's a security issue, please let us know privately so we can fix it before it becomes a problem.
Thank You for Being Here
